Narrated in a 'documentary style' Newcastle United focuses on twenty-one years of the club's life, from 1988 to 2010. A brief history of the club is followed by a review of the club's performance and includes some fascinating new insights into the inner workings of the Board and an absorbing analysis of why only a limited number of clubs are pre-destined for Premiership success. Denis Cassidy is not only a devoted Newcastle fan he was a Director and Chairman of the club during part of the period covered. He therefore writes from a unique perspective, presenting a blueprint for success and a valuable insight into the structure, practices and financial viability of the Premiership itself. The creation of the Premier League in 1992 had the most profound effect on the game of football in this country. In telling the story of how the many changes have affected his club Denis reaches out to all supporters of every club, regardless of league or position. It is a story of glorious history, false promises, greed, incompetence, vanity, triumph and tragedy which will appeal to sports enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike.
